I have been a fan of Chris Turner for quite sometime now, it is great to finally hear a project from him. This is what Chris had to say about Monk Tape:
I’ve always admired the greats like Nat King Cole, Miles Davis and Sammy Davis Jr… something about their artistry, their ability to bridge the gap.. Jazz and Pop culture (their peers). One day I’ll record a full length album of standards, but in the meantime..listen to this tape. I guess its my introduction. The proceeds from this project will go towards the mixing and mastering of my album LOVEchild.

I have been meaning to post these two beat-tapes for a little while now I just haven’t gotten around to it, work has been insane. Anyways, not a stranger to the site, up-and-coming producer el-R shares with us once again his gift with The Departure and Mama’s Son. The Departure features vocals from soul singer NeoPopSicle, who is currently working with el-R on her next project, giving The Departure more of a soulful vibe. In the other hand, Mama’s Boy has more a hip-hop sound to it.
Either way, make sure you give both of these tapes a good listen, especially you instrumental heads out there, trust me you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!
