I have the pleasure to introduce to you up-and-coming produced LaShawn “el-R” out of Panama City, Florida. el-R is currently attending Gulf Coast State College for Music Production Technology. He has made a name for himself after catching some light on Youtube with mashups and remixes to some of his favorite songs. Shortly after that he began working with artists such as Soosh E, K.O, and Treazon. Last May, el-R released his first beat-tape entitled, #Excuses.
I do not think I can describe #Excuses any better than el-R himself:
The project is filled with tracks that display an array of different emotions. From the smooth, melodic vibe of the title track “Excuses”, to the emotionally driven “Bama’s Song” (ode to his home state that experienced devastation a few months back due to tornadoes). This is a well-rounded mixtape that is much more than just a collection of beats, it tells a story and takes you through the everyday moods we experience and is sure to have artists reaching for their pen and pads.
This won’t be last time that you will hear of el-R on Above All Rules; he has two upcoming projects in the works. The first one being his next beat-tape which will be sample free, el-R wants to showcase his ability to create music with original melodies, the yet to be tittled beat-tape will be released later his fall. Beatz2bump to has also been working with fellow South Floridian soul artist Neopopsicle, someone who is not a stranger here. Neo is working on her second project Lovah’s Labyrinth, in which el-R will be producing a majority of the tracks. Lovah’s Labyrinth is set to be released later this fall as well.
el-R has become of my favorite up-and-coming producers. I truly enjoy the soulfulness he applies to his tracks. I hope everyone can enjoy the project as much I have and be sure to be on the look out for his next beat-tape and Neo’s Lovah’s Labyrinth.
