Close Up and Private is project by architect/artist Sergei Sviatchenko who’s view, “looks to capture the spirit of modern style, as seen through the subtle shades of the individual. Through these details a complex discourse between clothing, fashion and image takes form, offering new perspectives on contemporary fashion and identity” (CUAP). The project is also curated by designer/art director Nello Russo, who is “dedicated to the visual language of style – celebrating classic details and contemporary looks through unique photographic documentary” (CUAP).
Close Up and Private has been one of my favorite sites since they began working back in 2009. It really hit me, how incredible the idea behind the site was. Capturing details in such rare but simple form. It is not just the details within the photographs, but it was also the movements by the models and the manner in which the photographs were edited.
Out of the three issues thus far, each having two separate releases per issue for spring/summer and autumn/winter, this year’s Spring/Summer issue is by far my favorite yet. Mainly due to the vast amount of different footwear captured through out the issue (if you did not know, I am a bit obsessed with shoes).

Although Mr. Sviatchenko has featured paintings in past issues, I feel as if in this year’s issue, he has focused more on showcasing some of the corresponding artwork through out the entire issue.

All of the original photography, drawings and paintings will be debuting at the CCA&A Gallery in Hamburg from June 17th - July 1st. If you have the time and of coarse money, make sure you go and take a look and maybe even buy some of the artwork. The show is one of the highlight at the Hamburg Art Week 2011. For more information head over to the CCA&A Gallery website.
The Spring/Summer 2011 issue has countless of photographs, check out some of the ones that I enjoyed the most after the jump.
