Batten Sportswear by Shinya Hasegawa

July 28, 2011

After doing my daily surf I came up on this great feature over at A Continuous Lean of the up and coming brand Batten Sportswear, by Shinya Hasegawa. Shinya has worked for vintage dealer What Comes Around Goes Around and as well as with Daiki Suzuki at Woolrich Woolen Mills.

Shinya Hasegawa was inspired by vintage outdoors wear from the 70’s and 80’s with a touch of East Coast suft culture. The items ranges from floral shorts to beach bags to outdoor jackets. Hasegawa has built Batten Sportswear by himself (with help form his wife) and does everything from design to marketing. All of the items are made here in the US.

Batten Sportswear is truly inspiring, not only is it inspiring, but the items are stylish and most of all wearable. The collection is launching for spring/summer 2012. You can contact Mr. Hasegawa/Batten Sportswear through their email - [info@battenwear.com]

Metal, Onyx and Rose Wood Bead-Bracelets
These were hand made by one of my friend’s mom. Whose name is Patty M, you contact her in two ways, through her online shop and/or through her Facebook. Make sure you check out all the different styles of earrings, necklaces and bracelets. If you live in the Miami area, it will be easier for you to purchase them and easier for you to get them custom made.

Mr. Bathing Ape - Leather Wingtip Brogues
Nigo out did himself with these. These “startips” are one of the most beautiful shoes I have ever seen. With the addition of the Bapestar in the front of shoes, it gives a little egde to the brogues. They were made by the oldest, since 1880, and highest quality benchmade shoe producer in Japan, Regal. The only tragic part about the “startip” brogues is the $635 price tag. If you have that amount of money lying around your house then go ahead and head over to Mr. Porter’s shop and yourself a pair.
