Olive Clark NYC - Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

January 24, 2012

After an impressive Fall/Winter collection, Oliver Clark is getting ready to release his upcoming Spring/Summer 2012 collection. This time around Oliver decided to go shoelace free with his classic designed loafers and slip boots. The collection comes in three different color-ways black, natural and my personal favorite, blood. I have to admit, those blood slip boots look like a must have. You can now pre-order yourself a pair via e-mail.

Check out the rest of the collection after jump.

Close Up and Private: Footwear

November 18, 2011

Close Up and Private has not been able to help me stop my growing obsession with wingtips/brogues. They always seem to have great wingtips in all shades of color and different textures, practically all of their images. I do not know how many times I have said this, but I truly enjoy the work that CUAP has been doing over past two to three years. As always, my favorite section of their seasonal issues is of the footwear being showcased, Sergei Sviatchenko has one keen eye for catching details.

I hope that everyone can enjoy the great imagery as much I do. Thanks to Sergei and the rest of the CUAP team for being one of my favorite sources for endless inspiration.

Check out some of my favorite footwear photographs from Close Up and Private’s Autumn/Winter 2011 issue after the jump.

Close Up and Private - “Trust The Classics”

As most of you guys know or may not know, Close Up and Private is one of my favorite websites. The video shows the creative capacity that Sergie and his team have. Mr. Sviatchenko creatively goes through his list of “etiquette for the modern classicist,” which they described as “a loosely compiled list of scrupulous style cues for gentlemen.” Sergie and Nello Russo have not only created a work of art but they keep pushing artists’ creative boundaries.

Men’s Bags by StreetFSN

August 31, 2011

HB Nam has become one of my favorite streetwear photographers. He has an eye for detail. Another thing I love about this work is that he groups his photographs making it a bit more organized than other blogs. This way the photographs wont be scattered around the blog. Anyways back to the post…

What I enjoyed the most out these past two post on men’s bags, It the fact that most of the bags that are featured have a timeless look to them. I am not a fan of any type of bag reason being is because of living in Miami, it is too hot wear a backpack, and there really isn’t any place for me take bag to. Even though, I do not use bags or backpacks, I can appreciate what they mean to men, especially working man.

Check out some of my favorite photographs after the jump.

Introducing: J.Elquist Clothiers

August 26, 2011

It is my pleasure to introduce to you J.D. Elquist, not only a man with style, but a man with an incredible drive for the things he loves to do. In this case, one of them being clothing. J.D is a twenty four year old F.I.D.M graduate, who has been working on his clothing company, J.Elquist Clothiers, for quite some time now. J.D is now getting ready to release the first part of the collection later next month. With the brand’s website soon to be up after.

The collection will be featuring eight items is their basic colors year around, those being a dress shirt, polo shirt, t-shirt, jeans, chinos, denim coat, pea coat and a sport coat. After every season, seasonal colors will be added in some of the items, as well as additional garments to enhance the collection for the specific season. What makes this collection classic to me, it is that fact that the items have a timeless appeal with a perfect fit.

I had a chance to talk to J.D himself about his up bringing, the brand and future goals. I got to know him better as a person. But it also helped me appreciate and understand his work a lot more.

- Q&A:

How much and what parts of your childhood influenced you the most?

My childhood had a huge influence in my life. I was born to a county commissioner and a party girl. After my parents split, my mom and I spent the good portion of my childhood with the Hells Angels. You can imagine it wasn’t very pretty. It was growing up around the Hells Angels that really influenced my life and style the most. I saw a lot of not what to do as a man. So in turn I decided my life was going to be opposite of the lifestyle of the Hells Angels. The men were greasy, un showered, and crude. My style is handsome, clean and well mannered.

Living in Seattle, what has the city taught you when it comes to style?

Seattle itself is a beautiful city, but is lacking in style. The biggest thing to come from Seattle is Grunge and that died in the early 90’s. Today, style is Seattle is influenced by the great outdoors. Most of the style you see translates to what the person is doing. That has been the biggest lesson Seattle was taught. Dress for what you do. A lot of fashion allows you to emulate when it doesn’t even make sense. True style translates from a dinner party to a mountainside.

If you read my last post about Close Up And Private a couple of months ago, then you must know how much I appreciate their creative work. It is one of the most simple yet inspiring works of art and style going around the web. I have been fortune to speak to artist Sergei Svietchenko, founder and editor/photographer of CUAP, a couple of times now and I have to say that he is a great source of inspiration.

Gant Rugger teamed up with CUAP for their upcoming autumn/winter collection 2011/2012. Mr. Sviatchenko photographed the brand’s featured garments. Also, if you have time in your hands and you are up for a great read then check out the interview Sergei did for SwipeLife.
