start caring about other people once something bad happens to them. Example: Haiti. Haiti has been on of thee poorest and less developed countries in the world for decades. They’ve had problems with diseases such as; HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, meningitis and so on. Also about 90% of children in Haiti suffer from intestinal parasites.
But no one ever talks about this. Why do people started helping now? Until they didn’t have anything left, is when it’s right to help? There has been major floods over there in past recent years, why not help then? Is there an amount of death that makes people help, 6,000 people in 2004 isn’t that much?
If people cared so much, why haven’t they been giving away money in the past?, why couldn’t they help set up schools over, or help with the water problems and or help for all those sick kids.
It’s sad that the world finally cares about a country, but most important the people until they don’t have anything left. All these celebrities and rich people are sending money and that’s good, because it’s tragic that this had to happen to Haiti out of any place in the world (not that I wish this on any country). It’s amazing how much money they’ve collected so far and I’m glad people are helping, but they should always help, not just when there’s a tragedy.
I’ve donate $30 yesterday and tomorrow I’m going to the Salvation Army for them to send a bunch of clothes that I don’t use, maybe someone else over there can use. I always donate clothes to the Salvation Army at least 2-3 times a year, am I getting any publicity out of it? No. I do it because it’s the right thing to do, to help others in need.
I believe that all the news station and other media sources have been doing a great job. Just make sure we don’t forget about countries in need, we don’t have to wait for a tragedy to happen to help.
